SHARC is a unique peer-led organisation. Since its establishment, SHARC's model of practice and service delivery has been underpinned by peer support. SHARC's Peer Projects is the lead sector resource for peer activities and peer workforce development, working alongside the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to support the growth, development and sustainability of Victoria’s AOD peer workforce. Peer Projects focuses on state wide capacity building of peer support activities and the development of the AOD peer workforce discipline.

  • Develop understandings of ethical practice and workplace legislative requirements
  • Empower Peer Workers to advocate for the discipline and manage their own wellbeing and development needs
  • Prepare Peer Workers to work across a number of domains, remaining ‘peer’ within clinical governance frameworks

Supervisee Training for the AOD sector

Supervision is a critical tool for supporting your professional development, wellbeing and a workplace culture that embraces best practice in working with forensic clients. Supervision encourages the translation of training to workplace best practice and provides an opportunity for skills deepening through reflection and analysis of on-the-job experiences. Supervision sessions are guided by an experienced staff member who creates a safe, non-judgmental space for supervisees to reflect on specific interactions with clients and the outcomes of such interactions, and to identify opportunities to strengthen practice through applying the skills developed in training. Introduction to Trauma Informed Care

This introductory module aims to explain trauma and how it affects people, and its links with substance use. It will increase knowledge and awareness of trauma which is the first step on your journey to becoming a trauma-informed worker.
